Tom Allen's 90th birthday flight

Once again I returned to Henstridge Airfield so that my friend Teresa could surprise her 90 year old father with a flight in a DH82a Tiger Moth for his birthday.

Bad weather had made an earlier booking impossible and even on this occasion we had to wait for a break in the cloud cover to fit in a 20 minute flight. Annabelle Burroughes from Tiger Moth Training Ltd flew Tom for this sortie and he landed with the famous 'Tiger Moth Smile' plastered across his face!

This was shot using two GoPro Hero4 cameras on bespoke mounts; one forward of the cockpit and one on the starboard wing strut. We had visited the airfield some weeks earlier to measure the aircraft and engineer the mounts, although some modifications were made on the day and some will go on the Mark 2 versions.

On the ground Jamie Russell shot video with a Nikon Z 6 fitted with a NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4S lens mounted on a Zhiyun Weebill-S gimbal, whilst I shot both video and stills using a Nikon Z 6 fitted with a NIKKOR AF-S 70-200mm f/4G VR lens. All post-production was done by Jamie using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.
